Duo Recital with Dorothee Oberlinger in Frankfurt: Vibrations of the soul

Edin Karamazov's shaping of the sounds with his fingertips, together with the location of the touch on the instrument, sometimes closer to the rosette, sometimes closer to the bridge, produced a huge wealth of timbres. At the latest in the Sarabande one could feel what Kandinsky called the “fine vibrations of the soul”.

Edin Karamazov at Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival

Edin Karamazov presented himself as an instrumentalist whose playing and art of interpretation literally took the breath of the audience. He took the risk of constantly juxtaposing some of the strictly contrapuntal works of the most important master of the Baroque period, J. S. Bach, with contemporary compositions by Cuban Leo Bouwer. Karamazov an ingeniously arranged version of the famous Chaconne of Partita in D minor for solo violin by J.S. Bach, the Prelude, Fugue and Allegro in E flat major, and an adaptation of the Toccata and Fugue D minor which demanded from the lutenist a virtuosity that pushes the boundaries of the playable.

Edin Karamazov at Schubertiade Hohenems

After the break, Edin Karamazov surprised with a wonderful arrangement of the Handel cantata "Nel dolce tempio" (...) His subtle improvisations, the English folk songs arranged by Leo Brouwer, as well as his diagonally harmonious settings of the Spanish poet García Lorca tore the audience into raptures. This has been a concert experience with an addictive factor.

Magic sounds of the lute

Only someone like Karamazov can venture with the lute to challenging pieces by Johann Sebastian Bach. In the D Minor Chaconne, a highlight of the violin literature for lute, the artist mastered the variations in the ostinato bass at the same time chordal and polyphonic playing in alternation with arpeggios and virtuoso unanimous passages (...) Karamazov transcribed Bach's Toccata and Fugue in D minor with mediterranean flair. The playback, with its steady change of movement, the broken chords and the cadenza, was admirable and received huge applause.

Ein Traum von spanischer Folklore

Die für spanische Musik durchwegs gewöhnliche Besetzung Gesang & Gitarre ist auf dem Album "Con Guitarra" mit einem außergewöhnlichen, berückend musizierenden Duo zu erleben: Núria Rial und Edin Karamazov. Gemeinsam fühlen die katalanische Sopranistin und ihr bosnischer Begleiter jenen spanischen und sephardischen Volksliedern nach, die Manuel de Falla, Enrique Granados und Lorenzo Paloma kompositorisch verarbeitet haben. Die gefeierte Sängerin Rial betört dabei einmal mehr mit ihrer klaren, leuchtenden Stimme. Karamazov, der sich sowohl mit historischem als auch modernem Saiteninstrumentarium einen Namen gemacht hat, besticht durch sein elaboriertes Gitarrenspiel.
